Back to school also means new clothes and new shoes. While we can’t give you recommendations for new clothes, we do have opinions on new shoes. New shoes aren’t just for students either. Teachers spend a lot of time on their feet. They can wear out shoes just as quickly as a child and may need new ones for the new school year. Children starting or continuing sports will also need new shoes. We might be known as just an orthopedic shoe store to some, but we have plenty of school-appropriate shoes to choose from. The kids who are arguably the hardest on their shoes are elementary students in kindergarten to the 5th grade. Children at this age, especially on the younger side, play very hard. They love to chase each other during tag, climb the highest trees and jump in the dirtiest puddles. Buying them new shoes every time they tear them up isn't feasible.
What they need are shoes that can keep up with their level of play. Luckily we have shoes that are durable and easy to clean. You may need to get them new shoes next year as their feet grow but at least they'll last through the end of the school year.

Run that extra mile in the right shoes
Back to school for some children means extracurricular activities like gym class and team sports. Most schools require children to have a gym class until somewhere around 10th grade. While a lot of us may have disliked gym classes growing up, it does serve an important purpose, especially for younger children. Times like recess or gym classes give the minds of younger children a break which helps them to retain information. For older children, it educates them on how their bodies move and work. As adults, wouldn't you love a little bit of playtime during your day?
Of course, a necessity for gym class or any kind of sports is a good pair of shoes. We may not have shoes for football or basketball, but our running shoes are great for other things. If your kids want to join the track and field team or just have a gym class for 3rd period, then we can help with that. Running shoes are their main accessories and we have some good fits.
