5 Kid's Shoes You’ll Fall in Love With

Give your head a quick nod if you love baby clothes. What about baby shoes? We know there is a lot of enjoyment in buying and putting your kids in new clothes or shoes. There’s just something fun about getting a little human all dressed up in an adorable dress or dashing little suit. There is little better than the feeling of getting your child a brand new pair of shoes and holding their hand as they explore their world for the first time. For some people, that first outfit or pair of shoes is the moment that your baby becomes your child. It’s the moment you fall in love. So, shouldn't you love what you’re putting on them just as much?

Valentine’s day may be over, but that doesn’t mean there’s not still a lot to love. A new pair of shoes for your kids can be that thing you’ll love. Baby and kid’s shoes are very cute, but they also serve an important purpose. We stock a variety of baby and kid’s shoes for sale, but here are 5 that we think you’re going to love. We even picked shoes that come in pink and/or white to add a little love after Valentine’s Day fun.

The first three shoes on our list are by the brand Footmates. Footmates is a children’s shoe that is a part of the Badorf Shoe Company. Formerly BadorfKids.com and Badorfshoe.com, Bardorf Shoe Company has been producing quality kid's shoes for over 90 years. Footmates shoes are designed to provide the best environment, support, and motion for all stages of your child's development. Footmates is also Badorf Shoe Company’s most popular brand. The company also distributes another brand we carry called Tsukihoshi.

1. Footmates Todd in White

First up is the Footmates Todd. The Footmates Todd is a unisex shoe in a variety of colors and one of our best-selling kid's shoes. It is a great shoe for guiding the feet of new walkers and promoting proper walking techniques. The patent Todd style also goes well with different outfits such as a dress, a button-up with pants, or a t-shirt and shorts. In 1977, Badorf Shoe Company, Inc. won the “American Designer Award” from the Leather Industries of America for the Footmates Todd. The award was specifically for the high-top infant bootie style that the Todd is. The Todd has been updated throughout the years. It continues to be one of the best-selling Footmates patterns year after year. We have the Footmates Todd available in white, which is great for Valentine’s day but also brown, tan, blue, and black.

Foot Mate Todd Features:

  • Custom Fit System – Removable, dual insoles in Medium and Wide provided for customized fitting.

  • Roomy Toe Box – Allows tiny toes room to breathe and splay naturally during walking, enhancing balance and reducing rubbing, friction, and moisture.

  • Arch Support – Shoe last and insole designed to provide proper arch support for developing feet.

  • High-quarter design provides maximum support and stability for first-time walkers.

  • Firm Heel Counter – Provides stable lateral support for new and confident walkers alike, improving balance, support, and posture.

  • Premium smooth leather uppers.

  • Breathable leather lining and cushioned leather-lined footbed for all-day comfort.

  • Lace-up closure for secure, adjustable fitting.

  • Flexible, Slip-Resistant Rubber Outsole – Provides maximum flexibility, shock absorption, stability, and slip-resistance for safety and comfort.

  • Non-marking outsole.

  • Imported.

2. Footmates Tina in Pink

Our next shoe is the Footmates Tina. The Tina was modeled after the Footmates Todd and has the same features as the Todd. It still provides the support little feet will need to take their first steps. The biggest difference about the Tina is it's only available in pink. This makes it a great purchase for your pretty in pink princesses.

Like the Todd, the Tina is an adorable shoe for formal or casual occasions. Its adorableness, though, doesn’t take away from its durability. You don’t have to worry about letting your children play in their shoes after a party or at the park, because all Footmates shoes are designed to hold up to rambunctious play. They also won’t scuff up your hardwood if playing indoors. The pink makes it another great Valentine's season shoe, but it can be worn all year long as well.

Footmates Tina Features:

  • Imported.

3. Footmates Ariel in Rose

Next up, we have a cute and frilly sandal option. If you’re looking for something even more girly than just being pink, the Footmates Ariel is a great option. It features two straps. One is around the ankle and the other over the toes. Together, these two straps help to give you a better custom fit for your child’s feet. The two-strap design is cute but the edging design for the strap over the toes is what makes this shoe attractive.

The Footmates Ariel is for older walkers and makes a good warm-weather shoe. The waterproof leather and corrosive-resistant buckles make them ideal for summertime fun. They also still provide comfort, support, and slip-resistance for all kinds of toddler play.

Footmate Ariel Features:

  • Premium water-friendly leather uppers and leather footbeds.

  • Corrosion-resistant buckles.

  • Flexible, Slip-Resistant Rubber Outsole – Provides maximum flexibility, shock absorption, stability, and slip-resistance for safety and comfort.

  • Hook & Loop closure (ankle strap).

  • Buckle closure (lower strap).

  • Non-marking outsole.

  • Imported.

4. Tsukihoshi Glitz Rose Lavender

Now, let’s make a brand change from Footmates to Tsukihoshi. Tsukihoshi is a shoe company that makes exceptional sneakers. It is also the largest manufacturer and distributor of children’s shoes in Japan and has over 130 years of experience in the field. According to their website “…at Tsukihoshi we develop all shoes with a very generous fit in the forefront so that toes are free to splay out, stretch and wiggle just as if barefoot.”

The Tsukihoshi Glitz Rose is more than just a simple sneaker though. Like all of Tsukihoshi’s sneakers, the Glitz is machine washable. A kid's shoe will always accumulate dirt and need to be cleaned often. The ability to put them in the washing machine adds easier cleaning and longer use, as long as you remember to follow washing and dry instructions. For that February fall-in-love style, you can get the glitz in rose but it also looks great in ice pink.

Tsukihoshi Glitz Rose Features:

  • Machine Washable – Machine wash COLD; Remove insole and AIR dry (NO dryer use).

  • Ultra-lightweight - Provides exceptional comfort and functionality for kids.

  • Antibacterial Insole – Infused with natural Green Tea extract (no chemicals) to kill odor-causing germs.

  • Pedorthist Friendly - With its removable insole, long counters, and child-specific patterns, Tsukihoshi has become a favorite for Pedorthists looking to make modifications to accommodate customized orthotics and/or AFO's.

  • Barefoot Comfort – Wide toe boxes allow the natural splaying of toes for balanced landing and maximum comfort.

  • Heel Stabilizer – Long heel counter provides optimum stability.

  • Easy On & Off – Single strap 'hook and loop closure and elastic faux-laces for superb fitting.

  • Arch Support – Shoe last and insole designed to provide proper arch support for growing kids.

  • Latex-Free.

  • Synthetic/Textile upper.

  • Breathable textile lining and cushioned footbed for active comfort.

  • EVA/TPR outsole – Ultra-lightweight, provides excellent flexibility, abrasive resistance, shock absorption, stability, and slip-resistance for safety and comfort.

  • Non-marking outsole.

  • Imported.

5. Birkenstock Rio Kids Cosmic Sparkle Old Rose

Finally, the fan-favorite Birkenstock. The Birkenstock Rio for kids gives you the same support and style you love from your Birkenstocks but for little feet. With one strap over the toes and a heel strap, similar to the Footmate Ariel, the Rio gives you the adjustability to fit your child’s feet as well as make it sportier. While the color-coordinated outsole adds sophistication and elegance, little feet can run, jump, kick and look adorable at the same time.

The Cosmic Sparkle version of the Rio features a glitter effect and a shiny coating. What little girl does love a little pink and sparkles! The Rio looks great in cosmic sparkle, but you’ll love it in the other colors as well.

Birkenstock Rio Features:

  • Anatomically shaped cork-latex footbed

  • Upper: Birko-Flor®

  • Footbed lining: suede

  • Sole: EVA

  • Details: one strap and a heel strap, each with an individually adjustable metal tongue buckle; color-coordinated outsole

  • Made in Germany

We may have only listed 5 shoes, but rest assured we have even more brands in store. We know how important nurturing growing feet are, so all of our shoes are hand-picked to do just that.
